Two months away from the official end of the Los Corchos Camp protection season, we continued supporting the operational team with salaries and social benefits.
Activities at the camp wrapped up this month and will resume in May, when we’ll continue supporting with salaries and social benefits.
Preparations for the upcoming season started, with materials being purchased for operations in two months.
Support with salaries and social benefits continued.
The protection season officially began.
One month into the season, we committed to donating gasoline for nighttime motorcycle patrols until December.
September, the busiest month with the highest presence of sea turtles, required repairs for the quad bike, a critical patrolling vehicle that was kept fully operational.
We continued supporting operational costs during peak season.
Nest collection and hatchling releases were in full swing this month.
As the year ended, so did the season's activities. We’ll soon restart support for the upcoming 2023 season.
2022 TOTAL: $130,693
We officially began supporting the Los Corchos Camp—and we wanted to go all in! Along with equipping the camp with everything needed for smooth operations, we committed to covering the salary of the technician in charge of the camp’s management plan.
Additionally, this month, we delivered:
This marked the first month of covering the technician’s salary, including social charges. Additionally, we covered gas costs for beach patrols. It’s worth noting that the quad bike used for patrolling was borrowed from Campamento Platanitos, where donations have been used for its maintenance, ensuring it’s ready for the 2021 season.
Our support started to show results, with an increase in the number of nests collected and incubated at the camp’s hatchery. We continued covering the technician’s salary, social charges, and gas for beach patrols.
The nests kept adding up, and more hatchlings were being released. As in previous months, we covered the technician’s salary, social charges, and gas for patrols.
Phew! An exhausting season, but we pushed forward, continuing to fund the technician’s salary, social charges, and gas for patrols.
The year came to an end, but the nesting season didn’t. We kept supporting with:
Happy holidays to all the crew at Los Corchos, from your favorite caguamería! We’re grateful for your hard work and dedication.
